The James Carling International Pavement Art Competition comes back to RopeWalks

Join us as some of the world’s most talented pavement artists will be converging on Liverpool for the UK’s 3rd International Competition of Italian Street Painting.

Street Painters, Madonnari’s, Screevers & Gockers  (Pavement Artists to you & me!) will be travelling from all over Italy, Holland, Germany, USA, Mexico and not forgetting all parts of the UK and of course Liverpool. All competing to become the UK’s top Screever (Pavement Artist)

This year represents a special cultural partnership & exchange between ourselves and the massive Bella Via Festival in Monterrey, Mexico. 
Roberto Carlos Treviño & Eduardo Bustos; two of Mexico’s finest street painters are being sponsored by the council in Monterrey to appear at this year’s competition in Bold Street. In return and by exchange we will be sending UK artists over to Mexico!

Other highlights of this year’s competition include the world renowned artist Julie Kirk Purcell from the USA, famous for her 3D pavement art and her best-selling book: Sidewalk Canvas Which you can view here.
Julie Kirk-Purcell is an internationally acclaimed street painting artist and a professor of art at Irvine Valley College, California.

Also this year we have a large contingent of professional ‘Madonnari’s’ (Pavement Artists) travelling from Italy (the home of street painting) each one internationally renowned and a master of this ancient art form; all willing to share their talents freely on the streets of Liverpool.

As a special treat we have a contingent of Dutch Master Painters traveling from all over Holland especially to take part in Liverpool, this includes our team from PLANET STREETPAINTING from Utrecht who will be creating the World’s first ever 360 degree Mega 3D pavement painting in Church Street, Liverpool between 20th & 23rd September- XXL:  For details of that visit here.
On top of all this we have UK artists travelling from London, Oxford, Leicester, Manchester and Leeds, not forgetting our home-grown talent from right here in LIVERPOOL (the creative centre of the Universe)

All artists are appearing free of charge and without fees
ALL COMPETIING TO BECOME THE UK’s TOP SCREEVER (Pavement Artist)

The James Carling International Pavement Art Competition is the only one of its kind in the UK and is fast becoming well known by the international arts community as the UK’s NATIONAL FESTIVAL of Pavement Painting!
The cash prize pot for this year’s contest is in excess of £1600
Judges will be Mike McCartney (World Renowned Photographer) &
Peter Dover (one time pavement artist & Head of Fine Art at Liverpool Hope University) further judges to be announced…….
