The Kasbah to open on Bold Street

Otto is a warm friendly person. He came here to Liverpool in 1995. Otto forms part of the team behind behind a new cultural experience about to open it's doors to RopeWalks, (his partner is the manager at Novotel on Hanover Street.),  and already I have hope for it.

On seeing all kinds of ethnic wares deposited hither and dither in the window of the former Mexigo fast food restaurant on Bold Street, I wandered inside to see what all the items in the display might mean. Of course, the contents were obviously in flux, but as soon as I raised an eyebrow as to the goings on in the building, Otto's face lit up!

In the air was almost the beginnings of his sentence, as the Smokey haze of incense delivered the olfactory embrace of calmness. "We're opening a new Moroccan Cafe/Bazaar in two weeks!" he proclaimed. "We're just waiting for the tables and chairs to be delivered from Morocco". Explaining what is to come, he says that there will be things you can buy... ethnic items and such, and there will be lovely food for everyone to eat. "We want to give people a taste of culture.. there will be traditional Moroccan nights where we give everyone clothes to wear, and we have traditional bands that will play here too.. folk music from that area of the world". Also, all other kinds of artistic practices will be encouraged. This will be your place. Already this fits in.

For some reason, Kasbah reminds me of stories I've heard from Cafe Berlin, a Weimar era Berlin inspired cafe/club which took its place in the footprint of what is now Yums Oriental on Bold Street. The very same place were names like Juilien Clairy and Dawn French started out, and were famous bands frequented it's spaces to meet up, if that is they were not playing there that night.

Another thing: You will be able to smoke monoxide free shisha. From having tried this before, I found the experience to be very calming. It actually helps clear your lungs and sinuses too! At the moment, they are not sure if they're going to have alcohol, but bring your own is a possible option.

Another fantastic reason to come to RopeWalks is just around the corner.. that is, if the corner is straight and called Bold Street.

We can't wait to see this open. Roll on two weeks!
