Welcome to Renshaw Street - Meet Jennifer & Martain, owners of The Hippy Hole

In our quest to show you what is going on in Renshaw Street we've met some really good shop owners who are passionate about what they're doing. Jennifer Tripp and Martin Womack are no exception.

The two set up the Hippy Hole in Grand Central in February this year as a new project to run alongside their festival catering company Rico World Foods.

When asked about the business, Jennifer said "We have an ethical policy of selling 100% fair trade and hand made goods.  Our suppliers import directly from family groups (not massive factories!) who they have met both in Nepal and India. Once we're properly established we will be travelling to both Nepal and India to meet our suppliers in person and create a direct connection with them, helping to support local businesses from these countries. On a local level we are keen to support artists and crafts people and are happy to offer up space in our shop to them."

"I personally design and make a number of the items for sale in our shop, from thai fisherman wrap pants to custom dresses, you will find me most days working away behind my treadle (foot power all the way!) creating something new and unique. I offer a custom clothing service so people can come in and request pretty much anything they like from my selection of fabrics."

"The Hippy Hole's plan is to travel the UK during the summer months trading at various festivals. We aim to be 100% independant by using solar power and taking the treadle on tour so the only electricty we will be using is from led lights. We want to make a minimal impact on the world around us and support the advancement of green energy solutions."
