A message from our Community Police Team in RopeWalks:
Ropewalks experiences a high number of visitors every day with the many shops, businesses and historic buildings and has a vibrant night-time economy with a high concentration of pubs and clubs.
Over a Friday and Saturday night the area draws in excess of 100, 000 visitors to the licensed premises in the Ropewalks area. Although Liverpool City Centre is a safe place to visit as recognised by its recent Purple Flag Accreditation, it is not unlike any other major city in the UK regarding issues concerning alcohol misuse and associated disorder.
Merseyside Police and partners are responding to this national rising trend and working on a range of initiatives with the objective to encourage local action to reduce levels of alcohol-related disorder and nuisance and ensure everybody has an enjoyable experience in Liverpool and will return to visit again.
Through a variety of Operations, activities and education we aim to :-
· Reduce public drunkenness
· Prevent alcohol-related violence
· Increase public reassurance
· Reduce the likelihood/fear of becoming a victim of violent crime.
